Lake Oconee was created in 1979 when Wallace Dam on the Oconee River was completed by Georgia Power.  The Lake Oconee area consist of Greene County, Morgan County and Putnam County.  It is the 2nd largest lake in Georgia and boast of 374 miles of shoreline and covers almost 19,000 acres.
